Powering a seamless transition to electric.

Warrington’s Own Buses have been part of the town’s life for more than 120 years. But when it came time to swap diesel for a pioneering all-electric fleet, they chose to look forward, not back.
That’s where we came in. Excel Resourcing worked side by side with the Cheshire-based operator to deliver the transition without a single service interruption. An achievement that required precision, planning and complete operational focus.

This was more than a fleet change, it was a transformation of the entire operation. Warrington’s Own Buses had invested in a brand-new, state-of-the-art workshop, one of the best facilities of its kind in the UK. Heated, secure and built around exceptional HSE standards, it set a new benchmark for working conditions in the sector.
As WOB’s staff underwent specialist training to operate and maintain the new electric buses, we stepped in to keep the operation running smoothly, ensuring services continued without a hiccup while the transition took shape.

Our team supported the full rollout and worked closely with manufacturer MCV Bus and Coach and Volvo, ensuring every new electric bus was delivered in top condition.
We handled Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and were subcontracted to complete all interior rectifications, fast-tracking the delivery process to make sure each vehicle was launch-ready on schedule.
Throughout the transition, we also provided on-the-ground engineering cover to ensure that as WOB modernised its premises, policies and processes, services stayed on track and standards kept rising.

The result? A fully electrified fleet now powering Warrington’s streets, delivered as part of the council’s Better Bus Service Strategy. The project has since been recognised nationally with the CIHT Bus Initiative of the Year Award 2025 – proof of what’s possible when public and private partners pull together.

Today, we continue to support Warrington’s Own Buses and MCV as they lead the way in delivering cleaner, smarter and safer transport for the 21st century.
Because powering progress isn’t just about electric buses.
It’s about building the systems, standards and teams that keep them running.
